Inspired by her own experiences as a single mother struggling to become an author, the Linda Lael Miller Scholarships for Women give non-traditional students a chance for higher education. The scholarships are awarded annually to women 25 or older and can be used for tuition, books, transportation and childcare. Applications are generally accepted through the beginning of September each year. Applicants must also be a citizen or the U.S. or Canada and attend college in those countries. Cherry-Delawder Endowment Scholarship is awarded to female students with dependent children who have attained a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher while pursuing studies in business or a closely related field. In order to be eligible for the scholarship for single mothers, applicants must provide a copy of a completed FAFSA form with the completed application and a 500-word essay defining their personal career and/or academic goals.
As a non-profit volunteer organization that assists individuals in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina in Wake, Durham, and Orange countries through financial support, the Assistance League awards scholarships to single working mothers who are currently attending a postsecondary two or four-year institution within the state. Eligible candidates for the scholarship ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 must submit an official high school or college transcript, copy of the , proof of permanent resident status, two reference letters, and a 500-word essay on educational objectives.Entries for the Single Mothers Scholarship is currently accepted. This scholarship is exclusively open to female students with single mother status. To be eligible, she must be at 18 years of age or older. The winning student will receive benefit of $750. To apply, students are required to write an essay and must be received no later than October 1, 2015.
