...WORKBOOK ANSWERS AQA A2 Sociology Unit 3 Beliefs in Society This Answers book provides suggestions for some of the possible answers that might be given for the questions asked in the workbook. They are not exhaustive and other answers may be acceptable, but they are intended as a guide to give teachers and students feedback. The student responses for the longer essay-style questions are intended to give some idea about how the exam questions might be answered and are based on actual student responses in previous exams. The examiner comments (underlined text) have been added to give you some sense of what is rewarded in the exam and which areas can be developed. Again, these are not the only ways to answer such questions but they can be treated as one way of approaching questions of these types. Throughout history, humankind has paid reverence to beliefs and mystical thinking. Organized religion has played the most significant role in the support and propagation of beliefs and faith. This has resulted in an acceptance of beliefs in general. Regardless of how one may reject religion, religious support of supernatural events gives credence to other superstitions in general and the support of faith (belief without evidence), mysticism, and miracles. Most scientists, politicians, philosophers, and even atheists support the notion that some forms of belief provide a valuable means to establish "truth" as long as it contains the backing of data and facts. Belief has long become a socially acceptable form of thinking in science as well as religion. Indeed, once a proposition turns to belief, it automatically undermines opposition to itself. Dostoyevsky warned us that those who reject religion "will end by drenching the earth in blood." But this represents a belief in-itself. Our history has shown that the majority of mass killings (regardless of how they got started), get justified by the religious beliefs of the leaders who started them, not from the rejection of religion.

My religious beliefs essayLying is wrong. Why do people lie? It gets people into trouble and can lead to unpredictable situations, as in lying to parents about going to a friend's house and end up going to a party. Lying is a sin according to my religious beliefs. Lying can cause many emotional problems by the loss of trust from very respected friends and family.
One way lying is wrong, it can cause more trouble than its worth. Such as, if I was going to a party and told my parents that I was going to a friend's. Afterwards, if my parents found out I had lied to them; I could get into more trouble than it is worth. Lying is untruthful and causes unwanted problems, as in loosing a precious item, for example a car. Lying shows a lack in integrity and disrespect, which is why one should always tell the truth.
Believing in the word of the Lord is very important to me. Lying is considered a sin as stated in the Bible "Thou shall not lie ?. If I were to lie, it would be unfaithful to the Lord. In the past, I have lied and felt bad for doing such actions that the Holy Bible would state for me not to do. As I perform these actions, I ask for forgiveness from the Lord and feel that I do not want to have this feeling again. Therefore I should not lie to show faith in my religion.
Loss of trust from respected friends and family can be very hard to deal with. Trust is very important to parents. They believe their children should respect and obey by their rules. If I were to break by their rules, trust is lost and those easy-to-have privileges are not so easy after that trust barrier is broken. Years ago, I learned a valuable lesson. I lied to my friends and family about what I had done the night before. Later my friends and family had found out that I lied to them and they no longer trusted me or thought of me in the same way. I lost friendships out of lying but gained a very valuable lesson. This lesson taught me to alwa
